Pleasures Forevermore

Today is Friday, March 31, 2017. THREE MORE DAYS UNTIL OPENING DAY!!!

Quote of the Day

“Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.” ~ Aldous Huxley

Word of the Day

Munificent ~ very liberal in giving or bestowing : lavish. Also, characterized by great liberality or generosity.

Today is Eiffel Tower Day, marking the completion of the tower in 1889. What you may not know is that the first Ferris Wheel was unveiled in the Chicago World Fair of 1893. The intention of the fair planners was to “out-Eiffel Eiffel,” and come up with something more magnificent than the Eiffel Tower.

Our gathering went well, last night. As always, we had some good fellowship and fun, lots of laughter, and still managed to talk some about the purpose of the gathering, which is the monthly Night of Worship. Next month (May) will see the one year anniversary of our monthly night. There will be some surprises concerning this event, which will be announced this weekend.

The weekend is nigh, and there will be two exhibition games at Rangers Ballpark. They will play the KC Royals tonight and tomorrow, have Sunday off, and meet the AL Champion Indians Monday night for Opening Day. While I have been counting down to Monday, which is Opening Day for the Rangers and Red Sox, there are actually three games Sunday. The Yankees play the Rays (how fitting . . . my two least favorite teams!), the Giants play the Diamondbacks, and the Cubs play the Cards. The Red Sox begin their season with interleague play (boo!!), playing the Pirates in a rematch of the 1903 World Series. Hahaha!

Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Psalm 100:3
Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.
Psalm 5:8
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD! We bless you from the house of the LORD.
Psalm 118:26
Let not those who hope in you be put to shame through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; let not those who seek you be brought to dishonor through me, O God of Israel.
Psalm 69:6

(From The President’s Devotional)

“The presence of God calms the soul, and gives it quite and repose.” ~ Francois Fenelon, Spiritual Progress, Or, Instructions in the Divine Life of the Soul

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11

“This is our prayer today, dear God. Show us the path of life. Bring us into your presence, where there is fullness of joy. Extend to us your right hand, and your pleasures, forevermore. Amen.” (Joshua DuBois)

I echo this prayer today, my Father. Show me your presence, calm my soul, give it quiet and repose. Let me know that you are with me throughout this day, and let every action and reaction reflect your presence in my life. May I know the fullness of joy that only you can give; may I know pleasures that can only come from you.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

Grace and peace, friends.
